MiP is recruiting an organiser
Your chance to change the NHS workplace after the pandemic by supporting members and developing reps at the union for the UK’s health and care managers

MiP Organiser
Full time, permanent
£28.065 to £40,874 depending on experience and location
Home based with frequent travel across the UK
Managers in Partnership (MiP) is the UK’s union for health and care managers, with over 6,000 members and 60 plus workplace reps working in the public services, private, voluntary and community sectors. We employ 13 staff, five in our national centre in London and eight across the UK. MiP is a partnership organisation. It is a section of the FDA and a national branch of UNISON.
One of your main tasks will be building our network of local reps. These key people help our officers support individual members, raise our profile and influence, and work with employers, managers and other unions to change the workplace for the benefit of all staff. Your role is critical in increasing our membership and impact.
You will be our sole organiser, working across the UK with our National Officers in each region, raising our profile with potential members, supporting our reps through advice, mentorship, training, creating resources and networks and delivering targeted organising projects. You will develop reps so they are equipped to advocate on behalf of MiP. You will operate in workplaces (when permitted) and also organise and communicate through online platforms and social media. You will be confident about interacting with senior managers in a wide range of occupational groups and settings.
What we are looking for
You are a self-starter who can influence in a team, prioritise and stay focused in the face of the huge number of opportunities and stakeholders across the health sector. You have experience of and skills in organising members, ideally in the management community, around issues such as management culture, professional skills, and equalities as well as traditional industrial relations. You can work through forums, partnerships and networks, as well as workplaces. Experience with digital platforms is essential.
You will have a commitment to the aims of Managers in Partnership and a strong understanding of how trade unions work and of the wider political environment.
A job description and person specification can be found here. As our MiP Organiser you will be an employee of FDA, one of the MiP’s partner unions. The post is home based but attached to the head office team in London. You will be expected to attend the London office on a regular basis (post current restrictions).
To apply
Candidates should submit a CV and a covering letter of not more than 550 words, outlining why your skills, experience and motivations make you the right person for the job, to Jean Bissett at jean@fda.org.uk by 26 February 2021.
