Promotion rules clarified

NHS Employers have published a number of new FAQs on pay on promotion, following requests from UNISON and MiP. These confirm that the pay on promotion rules still apply, and clarify the position of some recently-promoted staff in bands 1 and 2.
The new guidance addresses the mis-application of the pay on promotion rules by employers, the practice of placing promoted staff at the bottom of pay bands and denying them a pay increase, and the potential for ‘leap-frogging’ involving staff who were promoted from bands 1 and 2 between April and July 2018.
