What we offer

Plus the backing of both our partner unions

MiP is a joint venture between UNISON, the UK’s largest public service union, and the FDA, the union for senior civil servants. You can vote in elections for UNISON and the FDA’s general secretaries, take part in relevant pay ballots and access discount schemes and professional training courses on offer from both partners.

MiP members automatically belong to both our partner unions at no additional cost, sharing membership benefits and enjoying the backing of all three organisations.

For more information on our partner unions, please visit their websites: UNISON, the FDA.

MiP membership FAQs

Am I eligible for mip?

Managers in Partnership is open to all NHS staff at Agenda for Change band 8a and above (including very senior and executive and senior managers), members of the NHS Graduate Management Trainee Scheme and everyone who works in a non-NHS health or care organisation earning a basic salary of £40,000 and also has a management responsibility.

More details on eligibility can be found here.

can you help with an existing workplace issue?

MiP can only offer one-to-one support on issues that occur after your first four weeks of membership. Members can still enjoy MiP’s wide range of other benefits and will be protected should another issue occur in the future. Joining when work is going well means your union will always be there if you ever need it.

i’m already a member of unison, will i have to leave to join mip?

MiP operates as a national branch of UNISON, meaning you will retain all UNISON membership rights and benefits such as voting in pay ballots and accessing UNISON discount schemes. MiP was established to focus on the issues that affect managers the most and joining means you are now in the most appropriate branch for your role.

If you are an existing UNISON member and would like to transfer into our branch, please contact info@miphealth.org.uk

For more information on how MiP and UNISON work together please see here.

do you represent health managers working for the civil service?

If you are a civil service manager then you will be best represented by our partner union the FDA.

More details can be found on the FDA’s website here.
