MiP specialises in supporting healthcare managers, so we are well-placed to achieve the best outcome for our members. Normally it is best to resolve disputes before they become formal complaints. Our team has built close, robust working relationships with health employers and we often find informal solutions to your problems. But if that fails, or if it is not appropriate, we provide strong, and effective direct representation through formal stages, right through to employment tribunal or the courts where necessary.

These are just some of the issues where MiP provides support:

Bullying and harassment
We are all entitled to be treated with dignity and respect by our employers and colleagues. MiP helps members who have been subject to bullying or harassment at work, or who are the subject of accusations. We support members drafting their statements and provide representation to achieve the best possible outcome.

Disciplinary and grievance
We provide expert advice and support to members in disciplinary proceedings, including cases of unfair dismissal, and support members taking grievances against employers, for example challenging changes to their job descriptions.

Equality and diversity
Although legislation makes discrimination unlawful, it is not user-friendly. MiP supports members with complaints such as race or disability discrimination, asserting maternity rights or pursuing equal pay claims.

Health and well-being
The workplace can have a major impact on our mental and physical health. MiP provides representation to help members achieve a good work life balance and resolve problems, for example dealing with work-related stress, long term sickness or ill health retirement.

Pay and grading
We help resolve problems about grading and pay rates under Agenda for Change and Very Senior Managers Pay, bonus and other additional payments and provide advice on pensions, for example on enhanced benefits.

MiP provides advice on pensions, for example on early retirement and enhanced benefits. We are also speaking up for fair pensions in discussions with ministers and officials. See the pensions page for details. 
Performance management
MiP helps members challenging unfair performance appraisals, including threats of dismissal on grounds of capability.

MiP provides collective and individual representation, including ensuring that consultations are properly carried out and that our members are treated fairly, for example making sure that the transfer of undertakings is carried out correctly.

MiP is there to help members faced with redundancy. We ensure the proper procedures are followed and represent members where they have not been treated fairly, for example selection for redundancy or finding suitable alternative employment.
