Pay freezes do not constitute a sustainable pay policy for the NHS

MiP comment on the Government’s response to the Pay Review Body recommendations.

Commenting on the Government’s response to the recommendations from the NHS Pay Review Body and the Review Body for Senior Salaries, MiP chief executive Jon Restell said:

‘MiP is angry that, yet again, the Government has chosen to ignore the evidence about NHS pay and the recommendations of the independent pay review bodies. Pay freezes and pay restraint of this order do not constitute a sustainable policy for the NHS.

‘The Government should remember that incomes for these dedicated members of the healthcare team have already been cut by 15% in real terms.’
